Why our facilities make a difference
We believe the best way to learn is to get hands on – and our land‑based estate offers you exactly that.
With large‑scale commercial farming areas, specialist workshops, purpose‑built training zones and diverse natural environments, you’ll gain the practical skills and confidence that set you apart.
Few colleges can offer this level of real‑world experience across such a wide range of land‑based subjects, and our facilities are at the heart of what we offer.
Find out more information below or visit our subject and course pages to hear from students about how our facilities bring learning to life.
Our Agriculture facilities form the heart of Moulton College. You’ll have access to a large, mixed‑use farm that offers:
- 660+ hectares of farmed estate, covering a wide range of soil types used for both crops and livestock.
- Around 700 acres of arable land producing winter wheat, oilseed rape, barley, forage maize, beans, lucerne and grass.
- A thriving livestock enterprise with around 70 beef cattle and 700 breeding ewes.
You’ll also work with industry‑standard machinery and technology, including:
- A fleet of tractors, forklifts and all‑terrain vehicles used daily as part of your practical sessions.
- A modern combine harvester, giving you hands‑on experience with large‑scale harvesting operations.
- GPS and digital mapping systems fitted to our machinery, letting you explore the precision technologies used across modern farming.
- Fully equipped machinery workshops, with facilities for welding, machinery servicing and diagnostics.
Because our farm is run commercially, you experience agriculture exactly as it operates in the industry – from lambing and calving seasons to harvest and machinery operation. These are the skills employers look for, developed in the kind of environment you’ll work in after your studies.
