These guidelines explain the expectations for students who use college transport to travel to and from Moulton College.
They are designed to help ensure that transport services operate safely and that all students have a positive travel experience.
Students using college transport should read this information carefully before travelling.
These guidelines apply to all students who use dedicated college transport services.
Students are expected to follow these rules while travelling to and from Moulton College.
Bus passes will be given to students when they enrol at the end of August, so long as payment has been made.
Passes are issued on a termly basis, so long as payments are up-to-date.
Lost or damaged passes should be reported as soon as possible. Students will not be allowed to travel without a valid travel pass.
Spot checks are carried out on all our routes throughout the year. Students found to be travelling without a valid pass will be liable for the full transport costs immediately without exception.
Students must:
- be at the pick-up point at least ten minutes before the stated time
- be on time for return buses which leave Gate 3 promptly at 4.50pm
- carry their bus pass when travelling
- show their pass when requested
- use the correct service and stop
To help create a safe and respectful environment, students are expected to:
- follow instructions from drivers and staff
- remain seated where required
- wear a seatbelt at all times if provided
- behave respectfully towards other passengers
- avoid disruptive behaviour
- keep aisles and exits clear
- report unacceptable behaviour and/or bullying to the Transport Manager in writing. All complaints will be dealt with sympathetically and in the strictest confidence.
Students must not:
- smoke, vape, drink or carry alcohol or weapons at any time
- wilfully damage vehicles or their contents or interfere with anything that may compromise the health and safety of the vehicle or others
- carry knives and other sharp objects unless required for curriculum based activity. Where this applies these tools must be kept secure and covered in a suitable bag / holder at all times
Failure to follow these expectations may affect a student’s ability to use college transport.
If a student misses the bus because of their own action, it is their responsibility to make alternative arrangements to travel to or from college.
Students going on visits or sport fixture must make their lecturer aware in advance. If a student arrives back at the College after 4.50pm because of a delay on the visit, the member of staff accompanying the visit will make arrangement to get students home.
Transport routes and arrangements may change depending on demand and operational requirements. Students will be informed of any changes as soon as is practical via text message.
