Ashley
BSc (Hons) Applied Zoology
Ashley, who graduated in 2020, studied his course full-time whilst working part-time as an Animal Welfare Technician at the College.
“I decided to study this degree as I wanted to further my knowledge of today’s conservation challenges, and the things I can do to help preserve our ecosystems. I chose Moulton for its rural environment, and the modules on offer really appealed to my interests. Throughout the course I enjoyed getting involved in discussions and friendly debates, and I really liked being in smaller classes. We had the opportunity to go on a range of trips, collecting data and observing the real world. I’m so grateful to my lecturers, who were committed to spending extra time with me if I needed to understand something better. Their support was invaluable. Since graduating I worked at the College first as an Animal Technician and then as a HE lecturer whilst studying my masters degree part-time. I have now moved to an HE lecturer role at another college."
Sally
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management
Sally studied Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management (science stream), choosing this course over A levels as it covered every aspect of the animal industry and provided hands-on experience.

She chose RVC and recently graduated as a fully trained vet. She is now working in a local practice.
Iona

Meet Iona, a driven and passionate animal lover who pursued her dream of working with animals by completing a Level 3 BTEC in Animal Management. In addition to her studies, Iona worked as a registered veterinary nurse in multiple practices, completed work experience on a farm, and volunteered with the RSPCA to support her university applications.
Her hard work paid off, and she is now a registered veterinary nurse, completing tasks such as monitoring anaesthetics, taking X-rays, administering medications, and liaising with owners.
Iona is excited to continue her education and will be completing her Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Degree in September 2023 to achieve her ultimate goal of becoming a veterinarian.
Despite the demanding nature of her work, Iona finds her job incredibly rewarding and enjoys the opportunity to learn something new every day while building relationships with clients and their furry friends.

Dione
BSc Applied Animal Studies
Dione is passionate about animals, and loved the BSc Applied Animal Studies course at Moulton. She enjoyed how interactive the course was, saying learning was informative but also fun.
She enjoyed the days when they had practical lessons, and for her being able to handle and work with a wide variety of animals was extraordinary. She also enjoyed the different types of lessons and the different teaching methods were the highlight of the course.
Since graduating Dione has started working at a 24 hour Veterinary Hospital as a Veterinary Care Assistant, and would like to progress to Veterinary Nursing in the future.
Studying at Moulton provided her with lots of hands on practical experience with different species that is essential for working in a 24 hour Veterinary Hospital, where a variety of animals are seen, including wildlife.
The course also provided her with practical experience of using laboratory equipment which has enabled her to work within the lab at the vet practice as well. Dione has found that she is using what she learnt on the course every day in her job and has even helped educate others within the practice.
We asked Dione what advice she would give current and prospective students.
"My advice would be to get as much experience as possible and to make the most of the practical sessions. I would also suggest making detailed notes from lessons. Especially lessons that may contribute towards your career path. Some of the notes that I have kept from the university lectures have been useful for my job."

Caitlin's love for her job as a Socialising Trainer at MDD is evident as she works closely with a team of dedicated volunteers to train Medical Alert Dogs from puppies.
Caitlin's experience in working with a range of behaviour cases and breeds has made her a better trainer, enabling her to support clients with medical conditions, such as PoTS or diabetes.

Becky
Level 2 Floristry
Becky is currently studying Level 2 Floristry at Moulton College and completed her work placement at Flower and Farmer, where she has now been offered a permanent position.
Although she had always loved working with plants and flowers, Becky didn’t have any formal horticultural training. She first discovered Flower and Farmer four years ago but lacked the experience needed to apply. That’s when she decided to take a new step and enrol at Moulton College.
“I’ve always been into horticulture, and I grow my own flowers at my allotment – so floristry just felt like the natural path.” - Becky
Through her placement, Becky gained hands-on experience and confidence in the field she’s passionate about.
“It’s just lovely working with flowers all day, every day. I love the physicality of it, being outside, and I’ve learnt so much.”
Her hard work paid off – she’s now part of the team at Flower and Farmer, turning her passion into a career.
Preston
Level 3 Sport (alumni)
Preston studied Level 3 Sport here at Moulton alongside the Football Academy from 2022-2024.
He wanted to study this course as it allowed him to study many aspects of sport as well as play. He chose Moulton for its range of great sports facilities being in a lovely area.
An enjoyable aspect of the course for Preston was applying his theory based learning in practical sessions, like during his two week trip to Seville for sports coaching work experience, where he got to coach a number of different sports.
Preston says "Moulton College helped me massively get to the point I am today! The lecturers taught me a wide range of skills that I now apply in my coaching and constantly motivated me to grow in my coaching and my personal development!" Today Preston runs a successful football coaching business, P2L Training, based in Worcester and Northampton where he coaches private football training sessions. Alongside this he is a student at the University of Worcester studying a degree in Sports Coaching!
