Sports Facilities

Train, learn and perform in sports facilities that are a professional standard. Whether you’re aiming for a career in coaching, fitness, therapy, performance or sports science, our study spaces feel just like the real industry.

With expert staff, specialist equipment and an environment built for athletes, this is the ideal place to develop your skills and confidence.

Sports halls

We have two large sports halls, the John Ashby Sports Hall and the Pitsford Sports Hall, both located at our Moulton campus.

Our sports halls are home to basketball academy fixtures, weekly training sessions and a wide range of practical lessons. They’re also equipped with cricket nets, making them an important training space during the winter months.

Students use the halls for activities such as volleyball, badminton, fitness drills and team-based coaching sessions. Whether you’re working towards a qualification or training with one of our academies, this is a central hub for indoor performance.

Holcot gym

Our on-site gym is fitted with a wide range of commercial fitness equipment including resistance machines, free weights, treadmills and rowing machines. It’s designed to give sports, fitness and personal training students hands on experience using the same equipment found in public gyms.

The gym is also used by academy athletes for rehabilitation, often working with physiotherapists to complete conditioning and functional recovery sessions.

Fitness studio

Our dedicated fitness studio sits beside the gym and supports warm ups, conditioning work and instructor training. The space is highly flexible and is used for circuit training, coaching practice and group fitness sessions.

Outdoor facilities

Our campus has a wide range of outdoor playing areas used for lessons, training and matches throughout the week. These include:

  • Three astro turf pitches
  • Two rugby pitches
  • Multiple football pitches
  • A hard court training area

These spaces support both academic sessions and our competitive Sports Academies, with fixtures hosted on campus against colleges from across the UK.

Our facilities are also used by the likes of Northampton Saints, Northampton Town FC, county rugby squads and visiting international teams, so you can be sure they’re up to the highest standards.

Sand Based

Our on site athletics track is used by students studying fitness, performance and testing units. It’s also used for enterprise events, including primary school sports days that our learners help deliver - giving real coaching and leadership experience in a lively, community environment.

Strength and conditioning gym

This dedicated gym supports more advanced, performance based training. With Olympic lifting platforms and specialist S&C equipment, it is designed to develop speed, strength and power.

Academy athletes – including football, rugby, basketball, cricket and netball – train here several times a week with our full time Strength & Conditioning Coach. Personal training and fitness students also use this space to develop coaching, instructing and analysis skills.
