Open Events

Come and see us

Choosing a college is a big decision. We think you should make it in person.

Whether you're studying for your GCSEs and figuring out your next step, a mature student thinking about returning to education, or a parent wanting to know your child is making the right choice, an Open Event is the best way to find out if Moulton College is right for you.

What to expect

When you come to an Open Event, you'll be able to:

  • Explore the facilities you'd use on your course, not a showroom version of them.
  • Meet the tutors who will teach you and ask them the questions that really matter.
  • Talk to current students about what it's genuinely like to study here.
  • Get clear answers about courses, entry requirements, transport, accommodation, fees and funding.
  • Find out about support – from pastoral care to careers guidance – so you know what's behind you if you need it.

Two campuses, one great student experience

We run Open Events across both of our campuses, so make sure you come to the one that's right for what you want to study. If you are looking to study brick, carpentry or plumbing, you are welcome to visit both our Higham and Moulton campuses to help you make up your mind.

Moulton

Our main campus – further education, higher education and student accommodation.

Courses here include:

  • Animal Welfare and Zoology
  • Agriculture and Land & Wildlife
  • Arboriculture & Forestry
  • Equine
  • Sport
  • Construction Trades
  • Horticulture

  • Business
  • Foundation Learning

  • Student accommodation on site (390 rooms)
  • On-campus shop, library, social centre and sporting facilities, plus everything else you'd expect for student living

Higham Ferrers

Our specialist construction campus – further education and apprenticeships only.

If you live in or around Higham Ferrers, this campus puts specialist construction training on your doorstep. Bricklaying, carpentry and plumbing are also available at our Moulton Campus – but if the commute is the thing standing between you and your next step, Higham Ferrers is your solution.

Courses here include:

  • Bricklaying
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing

At a glance:

  • Further Education and apprenticeships only (Levels 1-2)
  • No on-site accommodation (day students only)

Not sure which course is right for you?

That's exactly what Open Events are for. Come along, have a look around and talk to the people who teach here. You don't need to have made your mind up – in fact, sometimes it's better to arrive with an open mind.

If you have a specific question before then, you can always get in touch with our Student Services team.

FAQs

We ask visitors to book in advance so we can manage numbers and make sure you get the most from your visit. Registering in advance also allows you to pre-book subject‑specific tours that are limited in capacity on the day.

If you don't pre-register before the event, you can still turn up on the day and complete a registration form when you arrive, but some subject-specific activities may be fully booked.

Moulton is our main campus and is where the majority of our courses are taught at both further education and higher education level. Higham Ferrers is a smaller, specialist construction campus for further education and apprenticeships only.
If you are looking to study brick, carpentry or plumbing, you can choose to study at either campus and you are welcome to visit both to help you decide which one works best for you. All other subjects are offered at our Moulton campus only.

Yes, absolutely! These events are for anyone looking to study at Moulton from Entry Level through to Level 6 (undergraduate degree). Tutors will be on hand to speak to you about our higher education offer in animal behaviour and zoology, construction, leadership and management and sport. If you are interested in studying a higher education course with us, please ensure you book onto a Moulton campus Open Event, not a Higham Ferrers Open Event.

Absolutely. We encourage parents, carers and supporters to attend, especially if they’ll be helping you decide on your next steps. You may bring more than one person with you, but certain subject activity may be limited to you and one guest. See below for more details.

Our campus is very spread out so we use buses to move visitors around on tours. To ensure that as many students as possible get to see the facilities, we limit the accompanying adults to just one person. This also ensures that everyone can be safely escorted around the campus.

Our Open Event run from 9am until 1pm (October, November and January events) and from 9am until 12 noon (March and June events). You are welcome to arrive at any point during these hours but we would recommend that you allow at least one hour before the end of the event.

If you have booked on to one of the tours we strongly advise arriving at least 15 minutes before the start time as it may take a while to get parked and booked in.

If you are visiting our Moulton campus, make sure you go to Gate 3, Holcot centre (postcode for your satnav is NN3 7SX). Staff will be on hand to direct you to where to park and register.

If you are visiting our Higham Ferrers campus, staff will direct you where to park and register on arrival.

Due to the size of our campus it is necessary to use minibuses and coaches for some of the subject tours. As space is limited for these we offer the ability to pre-book.

If the subject you are interested in is not listed for pre-booking it will either be a self-directed tour (e.g. construction, furniture or stone) or bookable on a first-come basis (e.g. animal welfare).

Yes. At Moulton Campus Open Events, you’ll have the opportunity to view our on site student accommodation and ask questions about living on campus.

Yes, there is ample free parking available at both campuses. Our staff will direct you to spaces when you arrive.

Yes. Staff from student services, learning support, careers, transport and accommodation will be available to answer questions and provide guidance.

If you’re no longer able to attend, just use the link in your confirmation email to cancel your place so that someone else can attend in your place. You can then simply book onto a later Open Event instead – we run multiple events throughout the year.

Yes. If you have any access or support requirements, please let us know when booking so we can make your visit as comfortable and accessible as possible.

If you need more information before attending, our Student Services team will be happy to help.
