An apprenticeship is a real job with training. You work for an employer, earn a wage, and learn the skills you need for your career. You’ll spend most of your time on the job and come to college for planned education.

To start an apprenticeship, you must have a job first. The job and the training run side by side, so your employer and the college work together to support you.

Anybody can do an apprenticeship, as long as you are 16 or over, living in England and not in full-time education. Apprenticeships are available in various levels, which are based on the type of responsibility and skills required to do the job.

To study an apprenticeship at Moulton College, you can either:

Find an apprenticeship with an employer yourself and then apply to Moulton to express an interest in studying with us to complete it.

Apply for one of our apprenticeship job vacancies. These are apprenticeships that we’re actively supporting our partner employers to fill.

Choosing an apprenticeship is a great way to earn while you learn. You can start an apprenticeship at any level providing you have the right skills and experience. 

Often, apprentices begin with no experience at all. You’ll be shown how to do the job at work by your employer and learn the theory and other practical skills during your time at college.

Set alerts so you’re notified when new roles appear in your chosen area.

Search employer websites

Many companies offer apprenticeships, but you sometimes need to dig around their careers page to find them.

Check job boards like Indeed

Search for “Apprentice” plus the type of work you want to do.

Contact local employers

A polite email or call can help you stand out. Many employers don’t advertise widely but are open to taking on a motivated apprentice.
