At Moulton College, we believe every student should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Our Additional Learning Support team works with students with a wide range of additional needs including dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD, emotional or behavioural difficulties, mental health difficulties, hearing or sight impairments and physical disabilities.
We work closely with students, families and schools to ensure the right support is in place from the very beginning of each student's journey.
Starting college is an exciting step, and we're here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Our SEND Transition Coordinator works with prospective students, parents, carers and schools to understand individual needs before students join us.
Support can include:
- visits to students in their current school or setting
- personalised campus tours
- bespoke taster sessions
- opportunities to meet teaching and support staff
- planning the support needed before the course begins
By getting to know students before they start, we can help them feel confident, prepared and ready for college life.
Once students join Moulton College, our experienced support team works alongside teaching staff to provide personalised support that encourages independence and helps every student achieve their goals.
Support may include:
- Learning Support Assistants providing classroom support
- one-to-one or small group interventions
- Specialist Inclusion Practitioners supporting students with more complex needs
- regular reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- working closely with families and external professionals where appropriate
Our approach is tailored to each student, helping them develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed.
We use a range of assistive technologies to help students access learning in ways that suit their individual needs.
Students have access to tools including:
- Microsoft 365 accessibility features
- Immersive Reader
- voice recognition software
- adjustable screen settings
- reader pens available to loan
These technologies help students become more independent and get the most from their learning.
Some students may be entitled to Exam Access Arrangements that help them demonstrate their knowledge fairly during assessments.
Our experienced team works closely with teaching staff and students to ensure appropriate support is in place and that all arrangements meet the current Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations.
Our support doesn’t stop in the classroom.
The Additional Learning Support team works alongside our Work Experience Team to help students gain valuable workplace experience and develop the skills employers are looking for.
Support may include:
- preparing for work experience
- developing confidence in the workplace
- identifying suitable placements
- supported internships for eligible students
These opportunities help students build independence and prepare for employment, further study or the next stage of their journey.
