Industry placement
One of the key features of a T Level is the industry placement.
During your course, you must complete a placement with an employer. These are mandatory to complete the course. We will support you to find a placement however you will be encouraged to find a placement yourself.
The placement gives you the opportunity to:
- gain real work experience
- develop practical skills
- understand your chosen industry
- build confidence in a professional environment
All of these experiences will help you to prepare for employment or higher level study such as degree programmes.
T Levels vs A Levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships
T Levels are one of several options available to you after school.
- T Levels - focus on technical skills and include an industry placement
- A Levels - focus on academic study across different subjects
- Vocational courses - specialise in one subject, mainly learning at college but also likely to include some work experience
- Apprenticeships - combine work and training with an employer
T Levels are ideal if you want a balance of classroom learning and practical experience.
Progression opportunities
After completing a T Level, you can progress to:
- Higher Education (HNC, HND, BSc etc)
- higher-level apprenticeships
- employment
The combination of knowledge and industry experience helps you take the next step in your chosen career.
Who are T Levels suitable for?
T Levels are a good option if you:
- prefer practical, hands-on learning
- are interested in a specific career area
- want to gain real work experience
- are looking for an alternative to A Levels
