No – you must have a job secured before you can start an apprenticeship. However, we would recommend applying to us to express your interest in a suitable apprenticeship course while you look for an employer.
We don’t place you directly into a job, but we give you the tools and support you need to find one. This includes CV help, application tips, links to vacancies and guidance on where to look. Most apprentices across the country find their own roles by applying to companies or using the Government’s Find an Apprenticeship website.
Yes. Apprentices are employees, so you earn a wage from day one. There is a national minimum hourly rate for apprentices (currently £8 from April 2026, or the updated rate at the time), but many employers choose to pay more depending on the role and the industry. This means you can build skills, gain experience and earn money at the same time.
Yes – your college training counts as part of your working week. Since apprenticeships combine learning and employment, your employer pays you for the time you spend at Moulton College as well as the time spent working on site. This means you can learn theory and practice new skills without losing pay.
If you didn’t get a grade 4 in English or maths at school, don’t worry. As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll study Functional Skills with us to help you gain the qualifications you need. We teach these in a friendly and supportive way, and many learners find they improve quickly once the pressure of exams is gone. They’re there to help you succeed at work and in day to day life.
Definitely. Apprenticeships are open to people of all ages – not just school leavers. Many adults use apprenticeships to start a new career, get back into work or build new skills in their current job. Whether you’re 16 or 60, an apprenticeship can help you earn, learn and progress.
No – these are very different routes. A T Level placement or work experience is unpaid and usually part of a full‑time course. An apprenticeship is a job where you earn a wage, gain qualifications and take on real responsibilities as part of a team.
