Our courses focus on the practical management of land and wildlife, developing the skills needed to protect habitats, enhance biodiversity, and maintain healthy landscapes. You will gain hands-on and theoretical experience across our extensive and diverse estate. learning vital skills such as habitat conservation, fencing, countryside maintenance, machinery use, and land management techniques that reflect current industry standards.
When you're not in the field, you'll be working in the Wilson Centre, a purpose-built facility with industry-standard machinery, or on our commercial farm. By the time you leave, you'll know how to use professional equipment safely and confidently, not just read about it.
Our lecturers have worked in the industry. That means your teaching reflects what the sector actually looks like today – not a textbook version of it. You will see how sustainable land use, conservation, and food production work alongside one another, developing an understanding of modern countryside and land-based management.
We also have strong employer links across the land-based and environmental sectors, giving you access to work placements and industry connections that can open doors long before you graduate.
With a focus on practical learning, expert teaching and access to an outstanding range of environments, Moulton provides the ideal setting to develop your skills and passion for countryside and conservation work.
Our courses run from Level 1 to Level 3, supporting you at every stage of your journey.
Level 1 is your introduction – wildlife care, conservation, woodland management, livestock husbandry and the basics of working across estates and rural environments.
Level 2 goes deeper. You'll study ecology, conservation and deer management, explore British habitats, and get behind the wheel – tractor driving is part of the course, as is a commercial work placement.
Level 3 is where it all comes together. Estate and countryside management, advanced ecological principles, woodland surveying, machinery operation and repair. You'll graduate ready to take on real responsibility – and ready to move into employment or higher education.
Career options are genuinely varied: countryside ranger, ecologist, estate manager, gamekeeper, environmental consultant, rural surveyor. It's a growing sector, and the people who can combine practical skills with ecological knowledge are exactly what employers are looking for.

You'll spend a lot of time on our 440-hectare estate, applying what you've learned across real habitats and environments. Field trips take you further afield to see how countryside management works across the UK.

Our Wilson Centre is located at Gate 4, Moulton and gives students a range of different tools to progress their Land & Wildlife skills. It also has a generous amount of green space for outdoor activities.
