The land-based sector is rapidly changing and developing covering a broad range of environmental and conservation occupations.
The City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Countryside and Environment course incorporates three separate streams where you can decide to specialise in studying Arboriculture, Countryside Management or Horticulture.
All our land-based students get access to an exciting range of specialist resources on our college estate of 440 hectares and experience other resources away from the college.
Whichever stream you choose, you will be guided by our range of expert staff in the fields of Arboriculture, Countryside Management and Horticulture gaining theoretical knowledge and practical skills in your selected field.
You will develop theoretical knowledge of environmental and land-based business and practical skills in estate maintenance and machinery operations.
Each specialist stream will then have its own learning pathway, developing the knowledge and skills to prepare you for the workplace:
- Arboriculture will learn how to undertake tree felling operations and ground-based arboriculture operations;
- Countryside Management will learn about British habitats and how to undertake tree felling operations;
- Horticulture will learn how to establish and maintain plants and how to set up a retail business based around the production and selling of horticultural products.
