Studying Business at Moulton College means bringing the subject off the page and into the real world. While business can sometimes feel “book‑heavy”, our courses turn studying business into something fun and practical.
Here, you’ll learn by doing. Across the two‑year Level 3 course, students create and run their own business and pitch for real funding through the Peter Jones Foundation. You’ll also take part in competitions and organise events such as our annual Christmas market, to develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
Other opportunities include hearing from guest speakers and going on unforgettable trips to expand your learning. Previous examples include a visit to Liverpool FC to explore how a Premier League club operates.
Students looking to balance sport and study can also join one of our Sports Academies alongside the Level 3 programme. Choose from rugby, football, basketball, netball or cricket. You’ll combine high-level training with studying business – a strong combination if you’d like a career in sport business, coaching, marketing or management.
We offer a clear and flexible pathway. You’ll gain a broad background in business skills so you can go on and explore the areas that interest you most. Our routes include:
Level 2 Business
A great starting point if you're new to business or want to build confidence before moving on to higher‑level study.
Level 3 Business
A two‑year programme with a strong practical focus. Students also have the option to join one of Moulton’s Sports Academies alongside your studies.
T Level in Business and Administration
A career‑focused course built around a longer industry placement. Due to timetable demands, T Level learners cannot combine this route with the Sports Academy.

After Level 3, you can progress into Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) at Moulton, specialising in areas such as management, HR, finance, marketing or entrepreneurship.
Careers
Studying business is useful for a career in almost every industry. Possible roles include management, marketing, HR, finance, events, retail, sport or starting your own business.
Our teaching team come from a range of business backgrounds. They will help you prepare for work by combining theory with hands-on learning.
Enrichment opportunities
We build this into your course from day one. You’ll run live projects, take part in internal and inter‑college business competitions, and help plan events. There are also industry trips and guest speakers who share current insights and support your development.
Work experience
All Level 2 and Level 3 students complete 35 hours of work experience per year. T Level students complete a 9‑week industry placement. This means you’ll get to apply your skills in real businesses on all our courses.
Assessment
This varies by course but can be a mix of written exams (mainly at Level 3), coursework, live projects, presentations and teamwork assessments. Full details are provided on individual course pages.

Yes – with the Level 3 Business course.
No – with the T Level due to timetable requirements.
Most business students are in college three days per week for Level 2 and 3 courses. T-Level students also complete an additional day online. Our Higher Skills students are usually here two days a week, giving you the chance to work part-time alongside your studies.
